End of Year Banqueting

Due to the high demand for year-end functions we have installed permanent decor in our two largest rooms – the Congo Room and the Zambezi Room. The rooms will be draped with swags on the ceiling, and the swags will have fairy lights to create that special atmosphere. Colours will be neutral so that you can enhance your theme by adding colourful table overlays and chair ties.

Make an enquiry now, our coordinators will turn your dinner into a memorable event while keeping to the all important budget.

Another Happy Customer

Nothing gives us more pleasure here at the River Clubthan meeting a customers needs. Susan from the Cape Wine Academy recently held a conference at our facilities, here is what she had to say:

“Hi All You Hard Workers!!!

Thanks for all being so professional and really making this course happen. The room was great, your staff always on hand and eager to help out, we had fun and lots of good feedback from our students. Service was excellent and so was the teas, and food, and your timing was perfect. Thanks so much we really appreciate all the hard work. Hope your bosses appreciate you all. Please let Jean, Dom and Zikisie know that I really appreciate them and love working with them, and thank them for me!”

Thank you for your feedback Susan.

Charity

At the River Club we are very keen to get more involved in the community by supporting the good work that some of our charity organisations are involved with. One particular organisation that is doing exceptional work is the Reach for a Dream Foundation. We have already met with them and offered to support them in any way we can. If you have any suggestions regarding the best way to support Reach for a Dream or you would like to put forward the name of the charity you would like to receive our support, please e-mail your suggestions to info@riverclub.co.za

Golf Tip of the Month

Tip supplied by Logicalgolf® | Instructor – Francois van Zyl

The O- Factor

The o-factor is one of the great tips from Logicalgolf. This involves the hips in the golf swing. This is for the back swing and down swing. When you get in to your setup position the left hip should be slightly higher than the right. That will get you into a, what we call a positive o-factor. In the back swing you want to rotate you hip that when you get to the top of you swing that both you hips are level with one another. That position is called o neutral

You will then start your down swing with your left hip moving laterally first and then pulling up and out of the way. So your left hip will be higher than your right that will get you in the positive position again. The pro’s with a driver get 17° positive. This movement also gives them a lot of power and time to hit the ball straight and long

Feel Like You Throwing Water

This tip will also help you not hit the ball with your arms and use more the core of your body that will make you hit the ball better and more consistent. Hope this tip helps your golf and make you hit better shot.

Recipe of the Month

The recipe we have chosen for this month is a wonderful classic sauce which you can make easily and goes extremely well with Eggs for breakfast and Fillet for dinner. It’s easy to make and will impress your guests.

Hollandaise Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • dash cayenne pepper or hot pepper sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • finely chopped fresh parsley, if desired

Directions

  • Heat butter in a heavy saucepan until hot and foamy, but not browned.
  • In a small bowl, whisk or beat egg yolks with lemon juice, salt, and cayenne pepper or hot sauce. Gradually beat in butter, then water.
  • Return mixture to saucepan and beat over very low heat until mixture is slightly thickened.
  • Serve immediately or let stand over warm water for up to 30 minutes. If desired, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
  • Makes about 2/3 cup of hollandaise sauce.
